"1 in 4 of our kids in Scotland live in poverty and that quite frankly is unacceptable." Tom Hunter
Welcome to the SKY Project website.
The SKY Project exists to provide access to a grass-roots, cost free service offering youth
work, life skills, and opportunity for personal growth to the significantly disadvantaged children and young people in the community
of Shortlees in Kilmarnock.
The area of Shortlees is in the top 15% most deprived on the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation
2009, with our base situated in the top 5%.
SKY aims to combat the restrictions placed upon the children and young people by
abject poverty and to offer hope to young people within a community, where there is a sense of hopelessness and resignation to accept
what is less than they are capable of achieving. We aim to include the excluded; be that behaviour, social status or with the need
of additional support or disability. We do this through a range of youth clubs tailored to the ever changing needs of the community.
Please support us by texting SKYP21 followed by £1, £2, £3, £4, £5, or £10 to 70070. 100% of your donation comes to us and will be
used to fund projects throughout the year.
